(New York Central Railroad) Boston & Albany R.R., May 9, clear strike of red cds and matching two strikes of open circular grid cancel ties 5¢ red brown (1), four large even margins, on cover to Salisbury Conn., endorsed "Via Housa. R.R." at bottom left; light stain spot, Very Fine and choice. Estimate $300 - 400.
Put onto the two contract Boston to Albany routes on May 9th circa 1850. Manuscript "Via Housa R.R." and addressed to Salisbury, carried through to Pittsfield for the 37 miles south to Salisbury on the Housatonic Railroad.
