Goodman Esq. at Holly Springs, Miss., sender is protesting non-payment of $10,000 note; some fold splits, Very Fine and choice, ex-Stephen Brown, Richard Warren; with 2011 P.F. certificate. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE USE OF THE NEW ORLEANS 5¢ CHOCOLATE BROWN ON COVER, ONE OF ONLY TWO WE HAVE RECORDED.
We have only seen one other example of the New Orleans 5¢ chocolate brown used on cover from the Hubert Skinner collection on a first week use (June 19, 1861). This cover was used less than 20 days afterwards.
