Mexico - 1856-1861 Hidalgo Issues

Lot 2575

Mexico, 1864, Hidalgo ("Juarez" Issue) (blank value tablet) defaced reproduction plate, steel engraved printing plate showing a single very similar image of the essays without denomination of the 1864 Hidalgo issue, with M.E.P.S.I. certificate stating that it is of unknown origin and not the original A.B.N.Co. plates which printed the original stamp, this plate does not appear to be the one used for known forgeries, so maybe it was produced for printing catalogs, albums, training engravers or advertising, design shows a crossing line at center, includes four recent prints in black from the plate, Very Fine, a very unusual item that would be an interesting and eye-catching addition to a specialized collection or exhibit; with 2020 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
Scott No. 14R    Estimate $750 - 1,000.
