Danish West Indies, 1868 (May 13) St. Thomas, D.W.I. to New Orleans La., blue folded cover with sharp "St. Thomas, 13/5 1868" cds and bearing U.S. 10¢ green (68) tied by square grid cancel, carried by US Brazil Line Mississippi from St. Thomas May 13th to New York arriving May 20th, "New-York, May 20" duplex with square grid cancel also ties 10¢ stamp, Very Fine. The US Brazil Line "Mississippi" was first put into service for the USBMSC on December 23rd 1867 and would make only six trips to Brazil before its wreck and loss in May 1869.
