Confederacy, Limestone Springs S.C., Jul 1, cds with matching "PAID 5" rating handstamp on 1861 cover to Allendale S.C., original June 30th 1861 letter from student at the Limestone Springs Female College no longer accompanies, also includes post-war stampless use; small edge tear and tone spot, F.-V.F. and unlisted in CSA catalog. Estimate $150 - 200.
This Limestone Springs "Paid 5" rating handstamp is the same marking used to make the 121X1 provisional stamps. All known covers with the provisional do not have a cds, but this cover proves it did exist.
