Confederacy, Charleston S.C., two soldier covers endorsed from "Private T.A. H, W.L. I. Eutaw Regt." to Charleston, one with letter datelined "Secessionville, Wednesday May 20th /63" with Charleston "10" and "2" rating handstamps; second cover only with Charleston "2" drop rating handstamp; unusual pair of letters apparently privately carried into Charleston and dropped in the mails; the letter with some interesting content concerning taking a steamer from Charleston to the Islands to meet and visit, mentions the Regiment is planning parties and "several Regatta Clubs started in the Regiment under the patronage of Col…Fred is afraid to run the blockade and cannot tell when his regular time will come for furlough…", Very Fine and scarce pair of 2¢ drop letters.
