Australian States: Queensland, 1867 (Dec. 21) Brisbane, Queensland to New York N.Y., blue cover bearing Queensland, 2d blue, 1s gray, each tied by "Brisbane, Queensland, DE 21 67" duplex with starburst cancel, red crayon "8" credit to G.B., carried by P&O Geelong via Southampton, red London Paid (2.17) transit cds and matching "3/Cent" handstamp credit to U.S., carried by Cunard Line Russia from Liverpool Feb. 22nd to New York arriving Mar. 5th, red "New York Paid All, Mar 5" exchange cds; flap missing, some perf toning, F.-V.F.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

In January 1868, transatlantic rates were lowered and Australian Colonies could for the first time send all mail to the USA prepaid to destination. Accountancy still applied for the new 11d rate from Australian Colonies with the United States due a credit of 3¢.
