Oakland, Cal., Mar 23 (Alameda), cds and 1861 3¢ rose (s.e. at right) with pen cancel on cover to a man in care of the Independent newspaper in Stockton, the man was evidently unknown so advertised in Stockton with "Advertised" straightline handstamp and "Mar 24" and "Apr 9" date handstamps, reduced at right, Fine and scarce (no photo). Estimate $75 - 100.
