Ecuador, 1865, 1r Yellow Orange, Bisect, upper left portion of stamp with clear to large margins, deep color and early impression, tied by "Guaranda, 15 Dec, 67" cds on folded letter sheet to Riobamba paying the ½r internal rate up to 1 oz., Very Fine, fewer than five bisect usages of this stamp are known originating from an early printing, ex-Longhi; with 2009 Moorhouse certificate.
Scott No. 4c    Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.

Due to a shortage of the ½r denomination at the end of 1867, bisect usages were required to meet the demand.
