Liberia, 1941, 50¢ on 1¢-$1 Airmail First Flight Liberia - U.S. Issue Complete, each on separate matching registered 1942 First Liberia - U.S. Flight cachet airmail covers, all except $1 issue in combination with a 10¢ Postage Centenary issue for registry fee, all tied by "Monrovia, Liberia, 14.II.1942" cds's; some minor cover edge wrinkling at upper right, otherwise Very Fine, a rare matching flight cachet set of this scarce 1941 Provisional Issue. Scott No. C17-C26 Estimate $750 - 1,000.
Because of WWII and possibly other technical problems, the flight did not actually take place until June 23rd, 1942. Covers cacheted for the flight and cancelled on February 14th, 1942 were not actually flown, but were carried by ship as regular mail.
