Nova Scotia, 1873 (Jun. 12) Sydney, Cape Breton to Beziers, France, cover bearing Canada 1870-73 Small Queen, Montreal perf. 11½: 1¢ yellow (35d) and Ottawa perf 11¾: 3¢ dull red (37c) and 6¢ yellow brown (39 var.) with re-entry, all tied by "10" two-ring cancels, matching "Sydney C.B., JU 12 '73" cds, carried by Inman-Allan Line Austrian from Halifax Jun. 17th to Queenstown arriving Jun. 25th, red London Paid (6.25) transit cds and matching oval "PD" handstamp, magenta "3½" d.stg. G.B. credit, Calais (6.27) entry cds, Beziers (6.28) arrival cds; part of flap missing, some edge wear, Fine.

A SCARCE THREE-COLOR CANADA SMALL QUEEN FRANKING PREPAYING THE 10¢ RATE TO FRANCE.

The 10¢ per ¼oz. rate to France was valid from October 1870 with the British 3½d stg. share of postage noted in magenta.
