Postal History Collection, 1811-1880s, collection of over 110 covers mostly mounted on exhibit pages, better includes 1761 c. reduced cover front free franked "Jeff Amherst" and "New / York" two-line postmark to Boston, 1811 Amherst fancy magenta cds "R. Kellogg" postmaster free frank, 1811 Hartford Conn. fancy cds with "Way 11" rating to Amherst and forwarded with manuscript. "Amherst" postmark, 1845 Amherst red "25" fancy rating handstamp use, two #1 1847 issue covers (only 3 1847 issue covers recorded, all are 5¢ uses) including one with the 5¢ cancelled by the fancy blue dotted grid cancel, #1 used from Boston incoming to Amherst, #2 pen cancelled incoming used from Cincinnati Oh. to Winchester Ct. and forwarded to North Amherst Mass., 1849 and 1850 Amherst to Jamaica with one having "Jamaica / Ship Letter" two-line handstamp, #10 use, #11 1853 registered use to Philadelphia with red "R" handstamp, #11 used on Fremont campaign cover, #26 on illustrated Amherst Picture Gallery cover, couple Civil War patriotics, auxiliary marking covers including. "Held for Postage" and "Due", etc., F.-V.F., an excellent collection with many better items.
