Hale & Co., 1844 (6¢) Blue, neatly cut to shape, reddish-brown manuscript "T" initial applied by Northampton agent A. W. Thayer and cancelled by manuscript "C" on Sep. 30th 1844 folded letter from Amherst to Hartford Conn., clear strike of red "Forwarded by Hale & Co. from Northampton" oval handstamp, Very Fine and scarce use. Scott No. 75L5 Estimate $300 - 400.
Hale & Co. did not have an office in Amherst. A Northampton Hampshire Gazette advertisement dated August 27th 1844 named Samuel Harrington as the Amherst agent for Hale & Co.
