Confederacy, 1861, 10¢ dark blue, close to large margins, clear impression, tied by "Thomasville Ga, Oct 25" cds on orange buff cover addressed to Col. W.D. Mitchel at Savannah Ga.; small faults, Very Fine, a late use of the 10¢ blue stamp. Scott No. 2b Estimate $200 - 300.
Lt. Col. Mitchell was wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga and taken to Savannah to recuperate. He was promoted to Col. for bravery at Chickamauga.
