Hamilton to his mother reading in part "…Great many sick here with the measles…We have blockaded the railroad here, and the cars pass up the road no further than this place - I do not know what the consequences will be - Ky. will act I think…Tell Sis I heard that John Clay was engaged in the hanging of a negro by mob law…I do not expect to come home anymore - Bloody fighting awaits us - We will have it to do - There will be no child's play affair - We will have to meet no Indians and Mexicans, but the true American - Our Kinsman and perhaps our friends in deadly conflict - I never expect to see home again should this war be protracted…", Very Fine with interesting content.
