Confederacy, (Tennessee) "Mouth of Sandy, Te, Jany 6th", manuscript postmark with matching squiggle canceling 5¢ dark green (1b), sharp impression on bright paper, on blue 1862 folded letter from Postmaster John Cooney to Memphis Tenn., reading in part "I inclose a certificate from the RR agent at Danville thhat the lost wardrobe never reached his depot. I hope you will be able to recover the cost of it from the Confederacy…"; file fold barely affects 5¢, Very Fine.
