'5' Jun 18" exchange cds with matching "Short Paid" framed handstamp and sent as an unpaid letter, carried on Cunard Line Cuba departing Boston Jun. 19th to Queenstown arriving Jun. 27th, Dublin (6.28) arrival cds and "1/-" due handstamp; small backflap fault., Very Fine and attractive example of short paid treatment under the 1848 treaty. The 1848 treaty did not allow part-paid letters, and stipulated that they would be treated as unpaid.
