20th Century Fancy Cancels - Original Postmaster Correspondence, interesting group including original letters from the postmaster of Ed, Kentucky to the Postmaster of Pacolet Mills S.C. including one dated Jan. 24th 1830 stating "Have cancelled your work as per numbers on each cover and am enclosing the slip showing the different designs for your reference. I haven't a doubt that you would have preferred this work done in color, but I have two reasons for using black: 1st., Sec. 524, P.L.&R. says black must be used for cancelling and, 2nd., all my color pads are about exhausted…", accompanied page with example strikes of fancy cancels with number and descriptive captions, additional correspondence with more strikes etc.; covers with fancy cancels from Ed Ky. include 1930 "ICU" fancy cancel, 1930 registered with three different rabbits in frame cancels struck in three different colors of turquoise, magenta and violet; 1930 with Irish Lyre in turquoise; and three fancy cancels from Pacolet Mills S.C. including 1929 registered with boot cancels signed by Glass, 1929 registered with blue negative "JJG" postmaster initials cancel, and 1929 registered with purple roast turkey cancel; some additional covers, etc., Very Fine and interesting group.
