Tibet, 1933, ½t orange, in combination with 1933, 4t emerald on hand-back native made cover, tied by Lhasa town postmark, with original enclosure from Lowell Thomas explaining stamps canceled at the Dalai Lama's post office and that Tibet is not a U.P.U. member…stamps from Lhasa are so rare that, if sent openly through the mails, someone always snitches them, as well as other interesting info, Very Fine. Lowell Thomas along with his father were invited by the Tibetan government to make a film there in 1949 with the hope that their reports would help persuade the U.S. to defend Tibet against the Chinese. They were the last westerners to reach Lhasa before the Chinese.
