AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE GERALD FORD FREE FRANK AS PRESIDENT.
A Lieutenant Commander in the Navy during WWII, he became a Congressman from Michigan and rose to House Minority Leader. Following Agnew's resignation, Ford was appointed Vice President and became President upon Nixon's resignation. He is the first and to date only person to have served as both Vice President and President of the United States without being elected by the Electoral College. He was plagued by economic troubles and resentment over Nixon's pardon, and was defeated by Carter in 1976.
