13-Section Grid, bolds strike ties 10¢ brown (150) on 1872 folded cover from Marseilles, France to Laguna, Mexico via New York, blue "Chaix-Bryan & Co., Marseilles" company oval, black "New York Jul 24" cds also ties 10¢, black Mexican "2" reales due rating for inland postage, interior docketing.
Weiss No. TR-G30    Estimate $300 - 400.

Letter was privately carried transatlantic and dropped into U.S. mails at New York, and placed aboard the American & Mexican Mail S.S. Co. "City of Havana" on it maiden voyage that departed New York on July 24, 1872 and arrived at Vera Cruz on August 6th.
