1841 (May 13) Philadelphia Pa. to London, England, datelined folded letter with scarce red "Ford. from Harnden & Cos. Foreign Letter Office, Phila." circular handstamp, carried as endorsed by Cunard Line Britannia from Boston May 16th to Liverpool arriving Jun. 9th, red London (6.10) arrival backstamp and manuscript "1/-" shilling rating for packet fee; some file fold wear, F.-V.F.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

The "Britannia" on this eastbound voyage, ran upon the rocks entering Halifax harbor on 18 May while under control of a pilot. She went to St. John, New Brunswick, for inspection and repairs and resumed the homeward voyage from Halifax on 28 May. She was delayed for 10 days as a result.
