Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ light blue, De La Rue printing, four margins, tied by "Charleston S.C. Jun 26 186" cds on flap sealing adversity folded letter made from blue line paper from Fort Johnson, Charleston Harbor addressed locally, a Very Fine and unusual overpaid drop letter use.
Scott No. 6    Estimate $150 - 200.

The sender was a S.C. State artillery man not enrolled in Confederate service, hence his letter could not be sent collect as that privilege was extended only to men serving.
