(Naval) 1861 (Mar. 28) U.S.S. Mohican, Fernando Po (Equatorial Guinea) To Brunswick Me., orange buff cover with blurry "Fernando Po, MR 28 61" British post office origin cds, Liverpool "Br. Packet" (5.11) transit backstamp and "26" cent debit rating, carried by Cunard Line Persia, "New-York Br. Pkt. May 22" cds with "31" cent due rating, this was an error rate by the British post (26¢ debit should have been 28¢), accompanied by second cover from same correspondence with clear "Fernando Po, MR 16 60" cds, Liverpool (5.12) transit backstamp and correct ms. "28" cent debit, "New-York Br. Pkt. May 23" with "33" due rating h.s., cover missing paper at right, also includes third cover bearing two 1857, 3¢ dull red singles addressed to Janus Atkins, U.S. Steamer Mohican at New York N.Y., Very Fine.
