Milgram No. 553    Estimate $150 - 200.

Although no Star Route's were contracted for the Mississippi and Ohio River route between New Orleans and Cincinnati, many freight and passenger steamboats plied their trade between the two cities.

The "Great Republic" of 1,727 tons built at Shousetown, Pennsylvania in 1866 was at its launch the largest steamboat on Western Waters. By 1869 her running costs had bankrupted her owners and the Master and Clerk were under bond for killing a number of the crew. She continued on the route until May 1871 under Capt. W.B. Donaldson.

Realized: $210
