AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE USE OF THE "ST. LOUIS & KEOKUK STEAM" ROUTE AGENT'S DATESTAMP ON THE 1¢ 1851 ISSUE.
The route was contracted by the trip as 4814 from July 1846 but was not offered for bids in the 1852 or 1858 bid rounds when it continued to be operated on single trip contracts. We record another example from this correspondence with the "St. Louis & Keokuk Steam" route agent cds dated July 17th 1856 (ex-Newbury, Grunin, Vogel), which last realized $6,037.
