(Route 10407) Keokuk Packet Co. Steamer Die Vernon, red illustrated corner card on cover with original enclosed letter datelined "Steamer Die Vernon Thursday eveg 8½ o'clk - 6 miles S of Alton" and addressed to Shelbyville Ill., written while on Route 10407 as she ran north from St. Louis to Keokuk, entered mails bearing 3¢ rose (65), corner perf flaw, tied by blue target and with matching "Alton Ill, Jun 9 1862" cds, Very Fine, Illustrated in Milgram on page 226., ex-Floyd Risvold.

The Keokuk Packet Co. was contracted between 1858 and 1869 to run six trips a week between St. Louis and Keokuk. Route 10407 operated July 1858 to June 1862 at $15,000 per year. The company used the 587 ton "Die Vernon" built in 1859 on the route.
