Natchitoches Packet Swamp Fox, red double oval handstamp on folded letter datelined New Orleans Feb. 20th 1856 to Durand's Landing, Miss. that was opposite the confluence of the Red and Mississippi rivers, endorsed "Freight" at top right and "Swamp Fox" at lower left; some edge flaws and wear, tape stain top left, F.-V.F. Milgram No. 1338 Estimate $200 - 300.
The "Swamp Fox" of 280 tons was built at Shousetown, Pa. in 1851 and enrolled at New Orleans in November 1852. It was sold to Capt. William Kimball and others in May 1853.
