Steamer Dora Martin, oval handstamp on orange buff cover to Alexandria La. bearing 3¢ rose (65), uncancelled, pencil "Received Dec 1st 1865" docketing at left; some edge wear, Fine, Illustrated in Milgram on page 229. Milgram No. 356 Estimate $200 - 300.
The Dora Martin was built in 1864 and sold on August 19th 1865 to Mary Henin of New Orleans with L.W. Martin, the previous owner, remaining as her Master. She ran Shreveport to New Orleans until 1867.
