Ouachita River Packet Idahoe, bold strike of oval handstamp on 3¢ pink Nesbitt entire (U58) with original lettersheet datelined "Monroe June 8th 1867" to New Orleans La., partial New Orleans duplex cancels indicia, pencil "June 12" arrival notation; some edge staining and wear, Fine.

Contracts were not renewed for the Ouachita River route after the Civil War and letters were carried outside the mails. The "Idahoe" of 153 tons was built in 1863 and taken to New Orleans in late 1866 for the Ouachita River trade. The Blanks' family took part ownership in May 1867 with F.A. Banks as her master.
