Jun 6" cds and matching "Ship" rating handstamp with manuscript "27" rating for 25¢ inland postage plus 2¢ ship fee for over 400 miles, content relates to the purchase of a male slave named Henry for $600, letter was transferred to the Great Southern Mail route via Mobile, Montgomery and Augusta to Washington D.C., Very Fine and scarce. Estimate $300 - 400.
Route contracts from Texas and Key West, Florida to New Orleans were not made until 1846 and 1852 respectively.
