From 1850 contracts provided a service between New Orleans and Mobile calling at offices on the Mississippi Sound. In August 1865, Charles Morgan contracted for Route 8151 for a daily service each way at $15,000 a year. The contract was renewed as Route 8009 from July 1866 to June 1867.
