Steamer Emperor, red circular handstamp on blue folded letter datelined "Grand Gulf Sept. 18th 1851" from the Carroll Hoy correspondence to New Orleans La., endorsed "Natchez #2", the Emperor was built in 1847 for the Vicksburg to New Orleans trade and was running this trip on that route; horizontal fold through margin, Very Fine, a scarce marking.
