(Routes 30093 & 30096) Vick. & N.O., Feb 2, duplex on 1¢ postal card (UX1) from "E.W. Whitman, Steamboat Agent, Bayou Sara, La., /76" to Oxford Ga., put onto Route 30096 to New Orleans where transferred to the Great Northern Mails via Mobile and Atlanta to Oxford on the Atlanta to Augusta Railroad, Very Fine. Towle No. M-15-m Estimate $150 - 200.
In the four year contract period July 1875 to June 1879, two separate contracts ran on the New Orleans to Vicksburg route. Leathers, Tobin and Cannon for Route 30093 at $33,000 a year with twice a week service and on alternate days Matthew Draper at $27,000 a year for three trips a week on Route 30096. This appears to have been a unique arrangement for this route.
