Hiram Lusk is known to have started Rhodes & Lusk's Express with James. H. Rhodes in 1852 which operated daily from Sacramento where they connected with Wells, Fargo & Co. to Marysville, Tehama, Shasta, Yreka, Weaverville and into southern Oregon.
