Late in 1901, the supply of Colombian A.R. stamps was exhausted. The 5c postage stamps were overprinted with magenta "A.R." oval handstamps and used as A.R. stamps. This stamp is listed as Scott H4. This is one of two similar examples mailed on the same day to this addressee. It was apparently found to be overweight in New York and marked 15¢ postage due from the addressee.
