Regt., Prisoner of War", examiner's manuscript marking "Examined A.S. Ballard, Major 74th Reg't OV, Camp Chase" at left; flap torn, Very Fine. Estimate $200 - 300.
Prisoner of War Keyes was captured at Fort Donelson Tenn. in mid-1862 by Union forces led by Grant. Camp Chase was named for Salmon P. Chase, a former Ohio Governor and Lincoln's Sec. of Treasury.
