1851, 3¢ copper brown, type II, clear to large margins, rich true copper brown color, tied by "New - York, Oct 2" cds on 1851 folded letter to Albany, Very Fine and choice, a lovely on cover example of this scarce shade; with 2011 P.F. certificate.
Scott No. 10A    $1,750.

The "copper brown" shade is a rich and deep color with a heavily inked impression. It resembles metallic copper and exists in 1851 printings only from plate 2 early.
