G Bomford, Ordnance Dept., Washington D.C., manuscript "Nassau, Augt. 31" postmark with matching "Free" rating; separations archivally taped, Fine and scarce, ex-David T. At the time the Inspector General was first given the franking privilege in 1804, the post was combined with that of the Adjutant General and this situation continued until 1821 with a few exceptions.
