Confederacy, Jeetersville, Va, readable strike of cds on lavender cover bearing 1861, 10¢ blue, Stone Y, four beautiful large margins, with military address to Col. Wm Preston Johnston ADC in Richmond, Va.; flap tear and minor paper clip mark, Very Fine; with 1999 CSA certificate.

William Preston Johnson (1831-1899) was the son of CSA General Albert Sidney Johnston (killed at Shiloh) and served as military Aide-de-Camp to President Jefferson Davis. After the war, he held positions at Washington and Lee University and the University of Louisiana before becoming the first president of Tulane University in New Orleans in 1884.
