Confederacy, Rusk Texas Jul 9, cds with matching arced "Paid 5" rating handstamp (CSA type A) on 1861 folded adversity cover made from blue lined paper to John B. Long, care of Capt. F. M. Taylor at Dallas, Texas, forwarded upon arrival with "Dallas Tex Jul 16" cds and manuscript "ford 5" rating to Fort Smith Ark.; small ink stain at right, Very Fine, A scarce Confederate Texas adversity use to Indian Territory.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

This cover was carried by stage to Dallas and then forwarded into Indian Territory via Colbert's Ferry. Carried along the abandoned Overland Stage route to destination.
