1869 (Jun. 5) Buffalo, N.Y. To Paris, France, Shepard correspondence mourning cover bearing 1867, 15¢ black, F. grill, corner fault, cancelled by cork duplexed with cds, black "New York '24' Jun 8" exchange cds with matching "Insufficiently Paid" straightline handstamp, blue Cherbourg (6.19) arrival cds and black "16" decimes due handstamp, Munroe & Co. "Short Paid" straightline backstamp, 1869 docketing at left; tiny edge and flap tears, Very Fine, 30¢ double French Mail rate underpaid by 15¢ and treated wholly unpaid with 30¢ due, scarce 24¢ debit for direct American packet service., ex-Turner.
