1852, 3¢ brownish carmine, type II, o.g., barest trace of hinge (appears n.h.), rich deep brownish carmine color, margins huge encompassing portions of all adjacent stamps, a Superb gem, without doubt one of the finest mint examples extant, this is the only example to obtain this grade with only one higher; with 2012 P.S.E. Graded certificate (Gem 100, SMQ $2,400 for 98). Scott No. 11A $275.
