1861 (Jul. 26) Washington, D.C. to Gottingen, Hannover, light buff cover with "J.P. Chamberlain, M.C." free frank endorsement and "Washington D.C., Jul 26, 1861" cds, black "N. York '5' Hamb. Pkt. Jul 27" debit exchange cds, carried on Hapag Line Saxonia from New York Jul. 27 to Hamburg arriving Aug. 10, neat strike of blue "6½" debit handstamp (Vdl #3095), reverse with Hamburg (8.10) transit and blue Gottingen (8.11) arrival datestamps; small bit of flap missing with tiny edge flaw, Very Fine and unusual free franked Transatlantic use.
