Hawaii, 1864, 2¢ rose vermilion + 5¢ blue, manuscript canceled and tied by target handstamps on U.S. 1864, 3¢ pink rebacked front to Petaluma, Cal., U.S. 1863, 2¢ black applied at San Francisco and canceled by target handstamp with matching "San Francisco, Cal., Feb 15" cds, red "Honolulu, U.S. Postage Paid, Jan 22" cds; Blackjack with small hole at bottom, Very Fine appearance, a remarkable fifth sub-period usage with 2¢ Blackjack added to paid the 2¢ ship fee, ex Advertiser; with 2008 P.F. certificate.
Scott Nos. 31+32    Estimate $4,000 - 6,000.

This front was carried aboard the Hesperian, leaving Honolulu on January 23, 1867 and arriving on February 15 in San Francisco. The 2¢ Blackjack was applied to make 3¢ postage plus 2¢ ship fee, however this fee was already paid by the 2¢ Hawaiian stamp.
