1843-C $5 Liberty. PCGS graded EF-45. The 1843-C is a scarce issue in spite of its "high" mintage of 43,277 pieces. Only 225-250 individual coins are believed known today, including a small number of lower-end Uncirculated pieces that surfaced several years ago. (PCGS Pop. 17 in EF-45, only 40 graded higher and a total of 124 in all grades, 9/24/11).Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.
