1857 New York, N.Y. To Paris, France. Cover with red "New York, Br. Pkt., Apr 1" exchange cds, rate of 15¢ per quarter ounce prepaid in the U.S. or 8 decimes collected in France if unpaid, post office missed the boat and charged 5¢ U.S. inland with "8" decimes due in France, Very Fine, unusual, the first day of the U.S. - French Postal Convention however this was the rate during the three month period immediately preceding the U.S. - French Postal Convention.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Sent via Cunard Line Steamer - per the steamer Africa, departing New York on April 1st and arriving in Liverpool on April 12th.
