Pair of early covers with "Va City I T" manuscript postmarks, first stampless with May 20 postmark and "Paid 3" rate marking, to New York, second with July 20 postmark and 1861 3¢ rose with pen cancel, to Michigan, first opened roughly at left and a bit soiled, second slightly reduced at left and with small stain tying stamp and docket indicating over one month in transit, Fine pair, ex-Mader.
