1887-1888, Richwoods & Jays Dispatch Covers. Group of 6 covers, 2 franked with square "Jays Dispatch" adhesives and cancelled by purple horserider handstamp; the others franked with "Richwoods Dispatch" with carrier pigeon design in center, all on different paper types & cancelled by black snowflake design, one very unusual and unlisted example printed on envelope (see photo); cds postmarks of Mount Pleasant or LaHoyt, Iowa. Estimate $300 - 400.
These are unlisted in Scott but identified and described in Lyons. James C. Jay operated a to and from the post office delivery service for Richwoods, Iowa from the nearest post office in LaHoyt. He also carried to Mount Pleasant.
