Germany, 1936 5pf Hindenburg Postal Card. Cancelled by Berlin/17.8.36 machine cancel, at top left is violet handstamp of the "Olympia-Verkehrs- und Quartieramt" (Olympic Housing Bureau), Very Fine and unusual. Estimate $200 - 300.
This card from the Olympic Housing Bureau is posted one day after the close of the Games and has type written message allowing the landlord a free hand in renting a (requisitioned) room. The handstamp is that of the District Mayor of Berlin-Kreuzberg, who was responsible for the lodging for visitors the Olympic Games.
